Portuguese brand FAMEL returns to the market with an electric motorcycle

The iconic FAMEL returns to Portuguese roads with an electric motorcycle inspired by the XF-17. After a long revitalisation process and an investment of around €3 million, the brand is preparing to relaunch with a new attitude, style and national DNA.

The new model of Portugal's best-selling motorcycle comes 22 years after the Águeda-based company went insolvent. The first models will start to appear next year, followed by a cycle of internationalisation. The new electric FAMEL XF-17 maintains the iconic design that marked generations but adapts to modern times with cutting-edge electric technology. The result is a motorcycle that combines nostalgia with innovation, tradition with modernity. After more than two decades absent from Portuguese roads, FAMEL is preparing to recapture the hearts of the Portuguese people. The investment of approximately €3 million has enabled the development of a competitive product with quality and features that meet current urban mobility needs. The design maintains the essence of the original XF-17, with simple and functional lines, but incorporates contemporary elements. Electric propulsion offers silent, economical, and sustainable riding, perfect for the urban environment. Technical features include adequate range for daily commutes, a removable battery for easy charging, and an advanced braking system. Everything designed to offer the best riding experience. After consolidation in the Portuguese market, FAMEL has internationalization plans, taking the Portuguese brand to other European markets. The goal is to position FAMEL as a reference in affordable electric mobility.
